Pillai & Vandyke

Three lawyers, and one of them is yours from the first call.

Each of us takes the call, reads the file and goes to court. Read how we work, then pick up the phone.

  • Venkat Pillai, in a lavender shirt with his arms crossed, in front of red brick and a steel shelf

    Venkat Pillai

    Founding partner

Takes the cases where the first hearing is days away, and the ones where the agency's plan has stalled.

  • Leandra Vandyke, in a white patterned blouse, smiling in front of a red brick wall

Handles custody and kinship cases, including relatives raising a child and parents closing an agency's file.

  • Gerard Tolland, in a gray blazer and light blue shirt, standing in front of a red brick wall

    Gerard Tolland

    Senior attorney

Handles divorce, separation and support for parents whose family is also in an agency's file.

How we divide the work

A small firm keeps your file in three heads.

Venkat leads investigations and court cases, Leandra leads custody and kinship matters, and Gerard leads divorce and support. Most families need more than one of these over time, and a hand-off inside the firm costs you nothing but a quick introduction.

We meet on Mondays to go through every open case and every date coming up. If your lawyer is in a hearing when you call, one of the others can answer and knows where your case stands.
